DSCN0241 DSCN0248 DSCN0276 DSCN0299 DSCN0307 DSCN0309 DSCN0338The 30th was the last day of the month of April and also the last day of National Poetry Month. Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month is held every April, when schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets throughout the United States band together to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Thousands of organizations participate through readings, festivals, book displays, workshops, and other events. One of the events I attended was O, Miami and it was indeed O So Good !

O, Miami is a biennial poetry festival in Miami, FL. Produced by the University of Wynwood with principal support provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, O, Miami creates a series of events and projects with the simple goal of every person in Miami-Dade County finding a poem during the month of April. Mixing traditional readings with innovative poetry-in-public-places projects, the festival weaves poetry into the fabric of the city’s existing infrastructure and cultural life. The inaugural O, Miami was held in April 2011.

This past weekend, as National Poetry Month came to a close, events were held at Miami Beach’s epicenter of poetry- The Betsy -South Beach.

Here are some photographs of Illuminated Broadsides, Poetry + Stars, and Rhyme or Reason Sunday Brunch for Poets and Media. Enjoy!
