Strongmen, acrobats and clowns …OH MY! And let’s not forget the aerialists that were flying up high! These performers wowed the audience while atop a water-filled stage at Cirque Italia this Labor Day weekend under the white and blue tent in Raleigh.
Cirque Italia has gathered circus performers from around the world to entertain in a show featuring a 40 foot Broadway circular style stage that is 4 feet height and contains 35,000 gallons of water inside. During the show, audience members were surprised when the lid lifted up 35 feet in the air while a CURTAIN OF RAIN AND FOUNTAINS DANCE WITH EACH PERFORMANCE MOVE!
This Aqua themed circus was filled with lots of exicitment, side-splitting comedy and death defying thrills! Everyone was laughing, gasping and enjoying the fun performances, such as : Coco the Clown from Argentina as he rode the WORLD’S SMALLEST BICYCLE; contortionist tricks; a mermaid was there dazzling all the little girls’ hearts while swinging high above their heads; and magical moments from the Laser Man! One of my favorites was the Verticali act, in which seasoned performer Gimmi Fornaciari sang some classical Italian songs while suspended upside down high above the ground. Other captivating sights included the humorous antics of the Twin Sailor’s Duo Lira act!
In addition to acting as a love letter to the traditions of the Italian circus, the latest Cirque Italia show is also a tribute to the ingenuity of founder Manuel Rebecchi. As the nephew of Moira Orfei, the world-renowned queen of the Italian circus, Rebecchi combined his family’s pedigree with his own groundbreaking ideas to form a company that leaves crowds breathless and competitors hurrying to catch up.
Most seats are so close you’ll think you are IN the circus instead of AT the circus !Cirque Italia’s “The Aquatic Spectacular Show” was the perfect activity to take part in with my family and I highly recommend you check out the show the next time it comes to a city near you!
