A taco (/ˈtɑːkoʊ/) is a traditional Mexican dish composed of a corn or wheat tortilla folded or rolled around a filling. A taco can be made with a variety of fillings, including beef, pork, chicken, seafood, vegetables and cheese, allowing for great versatility and variety. A taco is generally eaten without utensils and is often accompanied by garnishes such as salsa, avocado or guacamole, cilantro, tomatoes, minced meat, onions and lettuce.
Check. Naked Taco restaurant http://nakedtacomiami.com/ which occupies a spot in the Dream Hotel succeeds at the above taco definition. And oh so much more. Think Tequilla flights..Think Duck filled tacos. The Naked part is due to the fact that some of the uber weight conscious South Beach denziens frown upon carbs, so Naked Taco can serve them sans the tortilla or taco shells if a guest is so inclined. I am not one of those. I judge a taco place first and foremost by their guacomole. If it does not knock my socks off, I leave before ordering anything else that might dissapoint. After tasting their guac, I ordered my dishes barefoot. Delicious. I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Ralph Pagano. He refers to the restaurant as a Mexican Cocina. His Key West Shrimp taco and the Duck Taco are excellent. The subtle tastes and bold influences converge on these two tacos like none I have ever tasted before. They have various tequillas and inventive margarita cocktails to quench your thirst. The margaritas are only made with fresh juice. No plastic bottles of mixers here. They have specials linked to different nights of the week. Thursday Ladies night where the girls drink for free or their upcoming Cinco De Mayo weekend bash are good examples.
I will be back. With friends. Viva Naked Taco !!
Enjoy my photo recap of this wonderful new reastaurant !
