5 Lessons For My Daughter thanks to THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS +Recipes #DisneysNutcracker @DisneyStudios

When was the last time you cried at the movies? Well thanks to Disney’s new film, THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS, I shed a few tears while watching the mystery and magic unfold. It made me think about my role as a Mother and what important lessons I would want my daughter to know, especially when it comes time for me to go.

In the film, which opened in theatres everywhere on Nov. 2, 2018, Clara (Mackenzie Foy) is dealing with the death of her Mother who has left her a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.

Hoffmann’s classic tale is a must see! But I’m telling you..HAVE. YOUR. TISSUES. READY!

We have seen the Nutcracker ballet [see past posts here] and even the Hip Hop Nutcracker and I have never had this reaction before. Maybe I cried because I am 45 years old, my daughter is 7 and I know one day she will have to deal with the loss of me. How can I prepare her for my death? More importantly am I doing enough to prepare her for life? Will she be angry, feel abandoned or perhaps lost like Clara?

There are 5 Lessons For My Daughter thanks to THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS that I want her to know:

  1. Who you are is not determined by others. You decide who you are for youself. You hold the key to unlocking the magic, your unique gifts, inside you.
  2. What do you do when you miss someone? REMEMBER them.
  3. When choosing friends, may they be loyal ,reliable, trustworthy, respectful, caring and fair. A great example of loyalty is shown by Captain Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight)
  4. Where ever you go walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.
  5. How you love your life and the people in it will be your legacy. So live with passion, conviction, character, confidence and don’t forget to DANCE!

Today is our daughter’s last day of 1st Grade. Where did the time go? She is a little sad because not only will she miss her first grade teacher/friends but because her birthday is in August, she does not get the opportunity to celebrate her special day in class. So I decided to throw her an ‘End of School Year Celebration~Disney Dance Party‘ for her and a few friends at our home. Here’s a peek of the invite I made online:

Since this was a sort of a last minute decision, I had a very small budget to throw this party at home. The plan is to keep it simple: polish their nails, put on *Just Dance Disney Party 2 – Wii Game, order pizza and have some Disney themed refreshments like the *Pepperidge Farm Mickey Mouse Special Edition! Cheddar Baked Snack Crackers and *Good2Grow Juices.

Jelly Belly is The Original Gourmet Jelly Bean candy that kids/parents love because it’s fat free, gluten free, peanut free, and has a variety of fun flavors.

3. *Disney Headband

I picked up these Disney mouse ear headbands from Target and added some gems in case the girls wanted to bedazzle them!

4. Disney Mickey Mouse & Friends Lollipop

I found this Disney Sweet Treat at my local Target in the seasonal 4th of July section. So pretty and pink!

5. Disney Family Crafts Mirror Kit

Just a few days ago, I caught a BOGO sale at Michael’s on all their Disney Family Crafts items. I also used Retailmenot.com for a 50% off regular priced item at Michael’s Arts & Crafts

SobeSavvy Tip: Now that you have these budget friendly items, what should you put them in? The Disney Store sells these small Reusable Bags for only .25 cents each! They are only allowed to sell 5 max per customer. So take a friend or make several trips if you need more.

The bags can be used for both a girl or boys party but since it is a girls party, I will add some pink tissue paper for fun!

I like living conveniently close to Dollar Tree, Target and Michael’s Arts and Crafts but if you don’t, you can always find bargains shopping online at Amazon.com. When the party is all done, I am going to enjoy a Disney Dole Whip Inspired Rum Cocktail (see my recipe here) because this Disney Mom deserves it!

PS..I’m happy to have another reason to rock my Disney Mom ears that I received at #DisneySMMC, but my daughter has already requested that I please don’t wear them all day long at her party. 😂

Last week, I was in Miami along with other Mom Bloggers/Social Media Mavens at a invite-only working conference called Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. In case you missed it, read my post about how elated I was to recieve ‘pixie dust’ and what this ‘On The Road’ series is all about.

I promised to come back and share with you on the blog all that I absorbed at the conference. Well, as a mom of a 6 year old, I returned and had some catching up with life to do! My inbox is still out of control and I find myself needing a vacation after my 48 hours in Miami. So I decided to not write a blog but instead do a vlog about my experience at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.

One of the biggest take aways for me was the importance of creating video content and sharing with you guys because per Bob Hitchcock, one of the speakers at the conference, “85% of the US internet audience watches video online“!

Adding video allows you to connect with your audience. So, here is my first vlog ever! I promise to get the umms, and the pauses and the lip smacks in check as I strive to get in front of the camera more. Enjoy!

Hey there…I have some exciting news to share! A few weeks ago it happened. I got “pixie dust” in the mail. What is emailed pixie dust ? A magical invite from Disney to attend an event. How does it feel to receive pixie dust? Like Happiness! In T-minus 7 days, I am going to Disney’s Social Media Moms Celebration On The Road in Miami!

I could not believe my eyes! If your inbox is anything like mine, then it is mostly filled with random emails and delete-worthy messages… not awesome news such as this! I was surprised and also grateful to be invited to learn more about Disney, a brand that I’ve always wanted to work with.

Being a mother of a 6 yr old daughter, Disney has provided many educational moments as well as entertaining ones. Before my little one started kindergarten last year, I was a SAHM (stay at home Mom) who got thru many of our days with the help of Disney related fun!

As a former South Florida resident, we’ve had the chance to visit a couple of the parks when she was age 3 / 4 and I am looking forward to returning and learning what is new. One of my favorite things about being a lifestyle blogger/influencer, I get the opportunity to be a resource and share what I learn with you!

At the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration “On-The-Road” conference, I’ll have a chance to meet other bloggers, influencers and social media enthusiasts and receive educational inspirational content designed to support the goals and unique lifestyle demands of social media influencers.
